Seeking a way to activate its sponsorship of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, Far Coast (Coke’s brewed beverages division) called on Spider to pull off a winning sampling execution to brew brand awareness and trial — from the streets of Vancouver to the rest of the country.
With a mere 2-month lead time, Spider designed a 13′ Far Coast coffee cup kiosk, situated in the middle of a buzzing pedestrian mall beside one of Vancouver’s busiest transportation hubs. Aside from being a great awareness driver, the giant cup served the functional benefit of brewing fresh, hot coffee for chilly spectators, and doubled as a meeting hub for our home-based sample street team. Armed with coffee- and tea-filled jetpack thermoses, teams penetrated surrounding crowds for the 15-day span, enabling us to extend our reach beyond the Cup area.
By the end of the Olympics, our gold medal performance achieved 143% of the sampling target.
