Agency boosts senior strategic power with pre-eminent expert in retail marketing

TORONTO — Spider Marketing Solutions Inc., a Toronto-based, privately held full-service marketing communications agency (spidermarketingsolutions.com) is pleased to announce the hire of Jason Dubroy as vice president of consumer and shopper strategy, effective immediately. As a result of the agency’s growth and new business acquisitions, the firm continues to enhance its commitment to the shopper marketing arena, while augmenting its core competencies.

Mr. Dubroy—instrumental in launching the first-ever Canadian Shopping Marketing Forum last year—boasts more than 15 years of experience as a senior strategist with a diverse background that includes providing integrated shopper market solutions on both agency and client sides. Most recently he led the shopper marketing and client development practices at CIM, Canada’s largest independent marketing and sales agency, where he was responsible for realizing client relationships with both consumers and retailers. His expertise also includes keeping abreast of trends and insights in shopper understanding, consumer engagement, digital integration, retail strategy and global promotional innovation.

“Spider is super excited to welcome Jason to the agency. He’s truly considered one of Canada’s pre-eminent experts in shopper marketing and will be a fantastic complement to our team,” said Rico DiGiovanni, president, Spider Marketing Solutions. “His proven experience and client relationships will allow us to build on our own expertise, and he’ll provide added value to help build our clients’ brands strategically and in the marketplace.”

Mr. Dubroy is an avid speaker and industry panelist on shopper marketing, brand experience, promotional marketing and consumer engagement. His unique perspective of understanding the collaborative dynamics between marketing and sales, and how they interact in and out of the retail environment, spans work with such blue chip clients as RIM, Adidas, American Express, Apple, Revlon, Cadbury Adams, Johnson & Johnson, Kraft, Loblaw Companies Ltd, Microsoft, Metro Inc., Molson-Coors Brewing Co., Universal Studios, Future Shop, Alberto Culver, and Diageo, among others.

He sits on the Canadian Marketing Association’s Integrated Marketing and Customer Experience Council—a small group of senior Canadian marketers providing insight into the integration of traditional and new marketing communication practices in delivering consistent and effective customer experiences across all touchpoints. He was founder of the 2010 Canadian Shopper Marketing Forum and Conference, Canada’s first national shopper marketing event showcasing research, insight and case studies with leading marketers, retailers, researchers, suppliers and academics from across North America.
